Dwelling in Kirkby on Bain

Description: The clients brief for this project was to create a large 5 bedroom detached dwelling which made the best use of the site as a whole. Having reviewed the site, SDA proposed that the best way to achieve the clients requirements would be through demolish of the existing small bungalow and the replacement of this with a new extension which could be linked to the existing barn structure. This adjustment transformed the access into the site creating a private access and parking arrangements for the client which were previously shared with the neighbouring property. To create a cohesive development, SDA proposed that both the existing (partially completed) barn and proposed extension would be overclad in vertical larch timber cladding strips, fixed in a board-on-board arrangement. SDA also proposed a dark (black) brick so when combined with the timber cladding, the building would seamlessly blend into the woodland setting.
